The Story
The idea started
at a campfire.
Every year, the African bush receives people who arrive exhausted and leave different. A veterinarian from Edinburgh who had not taken a real holiday in six years. A founder from Johannesburg who had not had an uninterrupted afternoon since he raised his seed round. A doctor from Pretoria who had been practising medicine for twenty years and could not name one peer who understood what that had cost.
The bush has always done this work. On Safari Retreats was built to make it intentional. To bring the right group of people together with a facilitator who knows how to hold a room, in a setting that does not care about your title, and to let the combination do what it has always done naturally.
We are not a lodge. We are not a conference operator. We are a retreat series built around the one insight nobody has built a brand on yet: the best conversations of your professional life happen with peers who already understand the territory. Africa is just the best place to have them.

Our connection to the Greater Kruger area, our relationships with the bush operators who run the best private reserves in Southern Africa, and our deep understanding of what makes a guest experience worth talking about are the foundation on which this retreat series is built.
We are not curating a lodge catalogue and selling it as a retreat. We are building a programme from the inside out, with people who have spent years understanding why the African bush changes people, and what is needed to make that change intentional rather than incidental.

The principles behind
every retreat.
Same profession. Same room.
The cohort is the product. Twelve people from the same field who share the same pressures, the same vocabulary, and the same kind of Tuesday morning. Mixed groups have their place. This is not it.
Rest is not a reward.
The afternoon is unscheduled by design. The session ends at noon and does not begin again until the sundowner drive. Rest is not what you get for completing the programme. It is half the programme.
The bush is the co-facilitator.
Nature has been doing this work for longer than facilitation has been a job title. We use it deliberately. Two daily game drives are not a perk. They are a structural component of how the retreat works.
No performance.
Nothing said in a peer circle or at the campfire is recorded, shared, or used in any marketing without explicit consent. The retreat is not a content opportunity. What happens there stays there.
CPD with integrity.
For regulated professions, the CPD and CE credits are real, accredited, and meet professional requirements. We do not use them as a selling point that exceeds what they actually deliver.
Purpose with honesty.
Where conservation and community touchpoints form part of the retreat, they are co-designed with our partners, not bolted on as justification. The safari is enough on its own. The purpose layer is real or it is not there.
